How It All Began

On a normal summer day, nothing going on, we decided to take the family for a drive. I forget if we went anywhere special but we drove past a lot of subs with models. As we were heading home we found our way suddenly stopping to look at the model in Charing Cross in Canton, MI. The layout we saw was nice, and the saleswoman said there was another model up in Commerce. We liked the look of that model's layout better, particularly the upstairs, which led us up to Hills of Loon Lake in Commerce Township.

The salesperson at Loon Lake explained to us that there weren't many lots left that Singh owned, and the next phase was being built by another builder, Elkow Homes. As we drove around looking at the lots we jotted their number down, and decided to look into them, still thinking "maybe this could be a place to move to."

Elkow homes didn't have any models at the Hills of Loon Lake, but they did have one at Twin Pines in New Hudson. We drove out and spoke with Nick and were able to take a look at a few models and fell in love with The Yorkshire with the sunroom addition. The Twin Pines location was more appealing to us, as it was closer to a lot of our kids' friends and considerably cheaper than Hills of Loon Lake for the same model.

Later in the summer, Grandma L. came out to spend a week with us. We decided to take her to look at the models in Loon Lake and in Twin Pines. Seeing The Addison a second time, we still loved the upstairs but agreed the downstairs was left wanting. After walking through The Yorkshire, Grandma agreed that it was the perfect layout for us and we were even more enamored.

While we were not quite ready to purchase a new house, we decided to work towards being ready to begin the process in spring 2013, when the next phase of Twin Pines opened up. We started looking into where we had to set our goals and began working on our current home to get it ready to be put on the market.
